Sony Xperia 5 III Price, Design, Performance, and More Details

The Sony Xperia 5 III scales back from the abundant Xperia 1 III successfully thanks to nearly equal photographic potential and comparable performance housed in a more portable body. Because of this, if you want to learn more about the Sony Xperia 5 III, read the entire article.

Sony Xperia 5 III: Price

The Sony Xperia 5 III has experienced significant delays since its initial April 2021 announcement.

Although the phone was made available to Americans in January 2022 after being released in the UK in September 2021, this is an absurdly long time to wait for a product. As a result, prices have been set at $949 / £899 for the basic model with 128GB of internal storage.

Design

The Xperia 5 III has a conventional, polished, flat back and front design, making it virtually identical to its predecessor. However, rather than a completely new phone, it is more of an evolution of the Xperia 5 II’s design.

As a result, it’s one of the sleekest phones we’ve ever used, with dimensions of only 8.2mm thick and a surprisingly narrow 68mm wide.

The Xperia 5 III is incredibly narrow, making it easy to hold in one hand despite the flat display and side bezels that go along with it. Even those with smaller hands will find it quite manageable; with our thumbs in place, we were comfortably able to reach about two-thirds of the display.

The Xperia 5 III follows the design language of its predecessors; it has a painted aluminum frame holding together two pieces of glass.

The right side of the frame is pretty busy. It houses the volume rocker and the power/fingerprint button, and there are two additional clickers further down – a dedicated Google Assistant button and a double-action camera shutter.

Performance

The Xperia 5 III is a powerful smartphone in terms of performance. This phone is incredibly quick and responsive, thanks to the Snapdragon 888 SoC and the FDH+ display resolution. Although the Xperia 1 III has 12GB of RAM, you won’t notice the difference because 8GB is more than enough.

Sadly, Sony doesn’t seem to have matched its cooling technology to the compact form factor. As a result, the Xperia 5 III gets hot when running anything demanding, not to mention when charging, and it seems clear that this limits performance.

In other words, despite its relatively small size, the Sony Xperia 5 III performs like a full-sized 2021 flagship phone. However, given the cost, you would anticipate as much.

Cameras

The triple camera system on the back of the Xperia 5 III has a symbolic twist. The first periscope zoom camera is also the most sophisticated on a Sony phone. It has an internal moving lens that can switch between two different focal lengths, 70mm and 105mm.

Although we did notice that the Xperia 5 III would not lock onto a subject’s eyes in low light where the Xperia 1 III would, the absence of the 3D ToF sensor from the Xperia 1 III is comparatively insignificant. However, without a doubt, it has poorer night vision.

Battery Life

Battery life is arguably the biggest improvement made to the Sony Xperia 5 III from the Xperia 5 II. The Xperia 5 III ups the ante to a respectable 4,500mAh battery, compared to the prior model’s 4,000mAh capacity.

The Sony Xperia 1 III, which has a bigger, sharper 4K display, has the same capacity. We anticipated the Xperia 5 III’s battery life would be good due to the more effective Snapdragon 888 processor.
