Fitbit Versa 2 Price, Design, Performance, and More Details

Fitbit demonstrates that less is more with the Versa 2. The fitness brand has improved on all the elements that made the original a compelling budget smartwatch. Added a fiddly voice assistant, and produced a nearly perfect fitness tracker with smartwatch benefits.

Fitbit Versa 2: Price

Before IFA 2019, where the company debuted the product to the general public for the first time, Fitbit announced the Versa 2 on August 28.

The Fitbit Versa 2 costs £199.99 ($199.95/AU$329.95). But a Special Edition model is available for $229.95 ($219.99/AU$379) that includes a premium woven band in the box and either a Mist Grey or Copper Rose chassis.

Design

One of the best features of the Fitbit Versa was its attractive design, and the new one is just as appealing. At first glance, the new fitness watch resembles its predecessor. But closer examination reveals a few minor changes that give the Versa 2 a stylish appearance.

The Versa 2 only has one button on its left side, unlike the original Versa’s three buttons (two on the left and one on the right). It functions as a Select and Back button; the Versa 2’s touch screen is used for all other navigation.

Performance

Despite its improved visuals, the Versa 2 is a faster watch than its predecessor because of a new processor inside.

Given that the watch face is the first thing you see when you raise your wrist. It’s nice to know that there are hundreds of options available, which you can find via the Fitbit app.

You can have the button launch Fitbit Pay or Alexa. Whichever one you choose not to use requires some awkward swiping when you want to use it. However, the truth is that neither quality stands out.

Battery Life

The Versa 2’s battery life is just a little longer than the original: about five days for routine use and about two days if you use the Versa 2’s always-on display feature. The Versa 2’s charger is fairly large.

Four contacts on the base of the watch line up with nubs on the underside. Two spring-loaded clamps secure the watch on either side of the charger’s base. It is less stylish than Garmin’s simple USB connector and the magnetic charger for the Apple Watch.

Other Features

The Versa 2 should be much more capable than its predecessor because Amazon’s voice assistant is now a part of the wearable.

However, to use a voice assistant on your new watch, you must first link your Amazon account to the Fitbit app and download the specific Alexa app to your phone. The things Alexa can do for you are still limited, despite all this.

Your smartphone’s notifications can be received by the Versa 2, and you can accept or decline phone calls irrespective of the phone’s operating system.

Calendar invites and text messages can be viewed on iOS devices, but you cannot reply to them using the watch. The microphone on the Versa can be used to record voice responses if you’re using Android.
