What Is The Midnight Club About?

The Midnight Club
Netflix

In The Midnight Club, a group of young adults with life-threatening illnesses is portrayed as residents of Rotterdam Home, a hospice home run by a doctor.

They assemble around the library table at midnight to share spooky tales while drinking hot beverages with the understanding that whoever passes away first must contact the others from the hereafter.

When one of the terminally ill passes away, a lot of strange and unsettling events take happening in the hospice home, the spooky material that Mike Flanagan excels at delivering.

In 1994, Christopher Pike published a book that served as the basis for this program. This adaption is based on the 224-page novel. If you wish to read the book before watching the series, you may find it on Amazon.

Additionally, it should be noted that the medical manor’s name is changed to Brightcliffe Hospice in the official logline for the Netflix series. Eight teenagers, as opposed to five, are now part of the Midnight Club cast. As with many adaptations, some liberties are taken to make it more suited for the screen.

Who Is Producing?

Along with Leah Fong, Mike Flanagan, who is best known for his work on the television shows Hush, Oculus, and Before I Wake, serves as the series executive producer.

And although we’re used to seeing Flanagan directing the entire series, he’s just doing it for two episodes of this one.

Instead, he is giving the reins to a few other accomplished individuals, including his brother James Flanagan, AHS: Double Feature Director Axelle Carolyn, Michael Fimognari, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour, The Flash’s Viet Nguen, and Morgan Beggs.

Is There A Trailer Released For The Midnight Club?

Yes, there is. On June 6, 2022, Netflix published the Midnight Club trailer. The trailer is available to view below:

The show’s plot is not fully revealed in the trailer, which is more of a teaser. The show’s iconic toast, “To those before, to those after, to us now, and to those beyond,” was recited by turns by the six main cast members as they attended a Midnight club meeting.

More About the Series

It was reported in May of 2020 that Mike Flanagan and Leah Fong would adapt Christopher Pike’s young adult novel The Midnight Club into a film for Netflix. The Midnight Club was written for young adults.

Many members of the cast shared Instagram stories and other online content during their time away from the set while filming continued into the summer of 2021.

In Burnaby, British Columbia, the project started production on March 15 and was supposed to wrap up on September 8 but actually wrapped up on September 10.
