Five Days at Memorial Season 1 Update: Sheri Fink’s book 2013 ‘Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital’ is the inspiration for the upcoming miniseries ‘Five Days at Memorial. This medical drama is directed by John Ridley and Carlton Cuse. The plot of the series revolves around a New Orleans Hospital and how it faces the difficulties caused by the landfall of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Right after the book’s release, Scott Rudin acquired the right to adapt it into a film with Eli Bush and Scott Rudin Productions as producers. The filming of the series started on May 25, 2021, and concluded on November 10 of the same year. Filming took place in Toronto and New Orleans.

The cast members of the series include Vera Farmiga, Adepero Oduye, Cornelius Smith Jr., Julie Ann Emery, Cherry Jones, Molly Hager, Michael Gaston, Joe Carroll, etc. The series will release on August 12, 2022, on Apple TV+.

In the role of Karen Wynn in the series American actress cum director Adepero Oduye stars. In the 2019 miniseries ‘When They See Us’ she played the role of Nomsa Brath. As Sarah Wilson in 2021, she starred in the Disney+ miniseries ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which is adapted from Marvel Comics.

In 2012 she was cast as Annelle Dupuy Desoto in the television film ‘Steel Magnolias’ for which she was nominated for a Black Reel Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also starred in Dee Rees’ 2011 movie ‘Pariah’ in the role of Alike for which rule she received four nominations.
