Design
The previous model was one of the most visually appealing laptops. As a result, it should come as no surprise that the new model is yet another stunning laptop from HP. The laptop weighs just under 3 pounds and fits a 14-inch screen into an 11-inch housing.
Measuring only 0.67 inches thin. This laptop fits easily into almost any bag for commutes, business travel, or going to the library to finish a term paper.
Keyboard and Touchpads
The keyboard is big and enjoyable to use, with reasonable key travel. They’re also backlit, so you can easily use them in the dark. It has two backlight levels to make typing easier in almost any situation.
You can turn it off completely for bright rooms or when it would be a distraction, such as during a meeting.
The touchpad is comfortable and responsive. It’s a little wider than you’d expect from a 13-inch laptop, giving you a little more room to move your fingers. To the touchpad’s right is a fingerprint scanner for logging into Windows 10.
Performance
The components and performance of the HP Spectre x360 (2021) are the most significant upgrades over the previous model. The laptop serves as a showcase for Intel’s latest mobile processors.
The HP Spectre x360 is a great little performer thanks to the new CPU and a hefty 16GB of RAM, with Windows 10 feeling fast and responsive. Unfortunately, multitasking, with multiple apps open simultaneously, and a slew of Edge tabs didn’t do much to slow down the Spectre x360’s performance.
Battery life
HP rates the updated 4-cell lithium-ion battery in the HP Spectre x360 14 laptops at 21.5 hours of video playback. HP claims a battery life of up to 17 hours with the HD display and 11.5 hours with the OLED display.
However, reviewers reported that the HD display lasted 12 to 14 hours and the OLED display lasted less than eight hours.
