Persuasion starring Dakota Johnson fails to impress the audience!

So, finally, the much-awaited movie Persuasion, featuring Dakota Johnson was released on July 8 in the theatres and fans worldwide have some mixed reactions to the movie, and sad to say that most of the reviews are on the negative side.

Just to let the wide audience know, the movie which will also be released on Netflix on July 15 is made from the novel of 17th century English Novelist, Jane Austen. Dakota Johnson is in the lead role in the film and her character is named Anne Elliot who is a young charming woman aged 27 (not so young at that time considering the theme and time of the movie) who lives with her clannish family, who are about to face bankruptcy.

Anne is considered to have passed the “right” age of marriage because in the 19th century women used to marry in their early 20s, and by the way, there is also a big reason why she isn’t married yet and the reason is her own family, yes! her family somehow persuaded her not to marry Frederick Wentworth (role done by Cosmo Jarvis), 8 years back and now suddenly her long-lost love Fredrick is back in her life.

The movie is directed by Carrie Cracknell which is her directorial debut and she herself has added some extra scenes and a story that is completely different from the novel.

Everyone who has read Jane Austen’s novel and is familiar with any of her work has completely disliked the movie and many even said that it’s a shame and embarrassment of her works, whoof! we rarely witness such a level of dislike for a film but it’s real.

All the popular movie critiques from well know portals like The Guardian, The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Mail, The Independent, and Financial Time, all have given negative reviews to the film and the current rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 33%.

The problem with the movie is that it is completely different from the novel and an unromantic love story and unnatural comedy have completely ruined the movie. Well, we will have to wait and see how the Netflix release turns out.
