Sydney Sweeney Displays Her Self-Restored 1969 Ford Bronco

Published by

At the eBay Motors New York Auto Parts Show, the Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney revealed the finished automobile. You’ve probably heard about Sydney Sweeney’s Bronco by now.

Sweeney’s unusual passion for refurbishing a 1969 Ford SUV has piqued viewers’ interest as her star power has increased over the past year, courtesy of her involvement in The White Lotus and her character’s high-drama narrative during season two of the mega-hit Euphoria. She started documenting the project for her family on her TikTok account (@syds garage), but the videos quickly went viral, and she now has 1.4 million followers and millions of views.

Sweeney is finally able to drive the car in her most recent video (from January of this year), and she notes in the caption that she’ll be “sending her off to have reupholstered this weekend.” We haven’t heard anything about the Broncos since then—until today. Sweeney and the Bronco made an appearance at eBay’s New York Auto Parts Show at the Classic Car Club of Manhattan on Wednesday in all of its bright, candy apple red beauty.

Sweeney was there, and AD was able to talk with him and get a close look at the new cognac-colored leather upholstery. She talks about the restoration of the Bronco and the sleek car she’s working on next in the video below.

When did Sydney Sweeney’s passion for automobiles begin?

Architechtural Digest

Sydney Sweeney: I grew up in a car-obsessed family. We never had really good automobiles, but there was a lot of car talk and fantasizing. I’d put in a lot of effort to be able to afford [a vintage car], and I knew that if I didn’t do it now, it wouldn’t happen later. I thought to myself, “All I have to do now is take that terrifying leap of faith and buy one.” It was purchased through an online auction site.

How did you come to the conclusion that it would be a Bronco?

I’ve always wished for a Bronco. It was one of my fantasy automobiles. I’m completely enamored with them. And I scavenged the land for an all-original Bronco in excellent shape. It took a lot of love and effort, but she’s now stunning.

When you bought it, was it red? Did you maintain it mostly the same as it was before, or did you make any significant changes?

It was, indeed, red. My favorite color is baby blue, and I was intending on painting it that color, but then I learned how much repainting a car costs. A full paint job on a car that is really, very good—it means they take apart every single element of your vehicle—can cost up to $30,000. Instead, I went out and bought a 1965 baby blue Mustang for less than it would have cost to repaint it, so I ended up with two cars.

Oh, my, that’s incredible. So, what was the most difficult task you had while rebuilding the Bronco?

There were a lot of them. Because I switched it from manual to automatic, the transmission. Finding the pieces proved to be a difficult challenge. eBay Motors was really helpful in locating original or new parts that would fit earlier models.
