Celine Dion has remained relatively quiet on social media since cancelling the remainder of her tour due to health concerns.
The singer has appeared on occasion, such as for her son René-Charles’ 21st birthday and Valentine’s Day, but on Monday she released an emotional statement in support of the people of Ukraine.
“To the heroic people of Ukraine, we are startled, horrified, and really impressed by your bravery,” she said at the start of her remarks.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We send you our best wishes for peace and love. xx Celine.”
The 53-year-old penned the remarks on a piece of paper bearing her official monogram and then signed it.
Fans flocked to her post, which rapidly accumulated over 36,000 likes.
One person said, “Your voice helps,” while another added, “Nice one, Celine.”
“Thank you for your voice and support,” remarked another.
The Canadian has had a terrible start to the year as she recovers from a debilitating health issue that has rendered her unable to perform.
After her performances were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the much-loved singer had hoped to return with a bang.
But, almost as soon as she shared the good news that her shows were back on the air, she disclosed that her ill health had caused her even more distress.
“I was really expecting that I’d be fine to go by now,” she said in a heart-breaking statement to her supporters after she cancelled the rest of her tour in mid-January. “But I suppose I simply have to be more patient and follow the regimen that my doctors are prescribing.”
“Because our shows necessitate a lot of planning and preparation, we have to make decisions today that will affect our plans in two months.”
“I’m looking forward to regaining full health, as well as all of us defeating this pandemic, and I can’t wait to get back on stage,” she says.

In honour of Valentine’s Day, the singer shared a snippet from one of her most romantic songs, The Power of Love, in an Instagram Reel.

Fans instantly flocked to the comments section to rave over their memories of the song and to wish her well, with many using heart emojis to do so.
Several others referred to her as the “queen” of love songs, with one calling her “the only song anyone should be listening to today” and another calling her “queen of ballads.”
