Black Widow: What Scarlett Johansson & Florence Pugh Revealed On Set

Black Widow Updates: Given the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff is on the move, and she reunites with members of her espionage “family,” including Yelena, Alexei aka Red Guardian, and Melina.

Along with Nat, Yelena and Melina were both taught in the Red Room – the Black Widow training program – and now they’ll face the organization that made them into spies. In particular, Black Widow is expected to be a send-off for Scarlett Johansson’s protagonist, who perished in Avengers: Endgame.

Here’s what they revealed about Black Widow.

It would be over 11 years since Scarlett Johansson first played Natasha in Iron Man 2. The character has inevitably developed over the course of that period and seven films. The actress pondered on who Natasha was at the start of her path and where she is now during Black Widow while on the set of her standalone film.

The Black Widow film takes place between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Natasha is not officially an Avenger in the first film, and she is not yet a member of Steve Rogers’ squad.

Johansson and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige both felt that it was the right moment to go deeper into Natasha’s tale. Scarlett says, “The goal is to put her back together, but different than before”.

Scarlett Johansson says she’s finally happening today, despite the fact that it’s been a decade in the making. Rather than an origin narrative, the actress stated that the film will focus on “actual issues.”

She also indicated a poignant thread in the film involving the Red Room. While Black Widow will delve into Natasha’s history, the focus will remain on the character’s development.

In the solo feature, Yelena was always intended to be a part of Natasha’s tale. Pugh talked about “actually pushing Scarlett Johansson against the kitchen counter” in her first session with Johansson.

She also discussed how she and Johansson have collaborated behind the cameras. Florence says, Johansson was super helpful to her and she enjoyed working with her.
