Prodigal Sons Season 3 won’t come back. Prodigal Son shows us the story of Malcolm Bright who is a gifted criminal psychologist. Malcolm earlier used to work with the FBI but now works in NYPD and sometimes seeks his father’s help to solve the cases. Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver created the show and it debuted on September 23, 2019. Many critics have admitted that the show is addictive since there are so many interesting turns and twists in the story. The show can be considered to be a must-watch.
Fox has canceled the series – ‘Prodigal Sons’ after it’s run of two seasons which also means that the May 18 episode was not only the season finale episode but also the series finale. The average run time of all the episodes is 43-46 minutes.
The viewership of Prodigal Son wasn’t good due to which it had to be canceled and an insider told TVLine that the decision to put a full stop to this dramatic thriller was quite a difficult decision. till its May 4 episode, the average viewership was just 2 million weekly with a demo rating of 0.4 which includes both live and same day. The demo rating is down from 38 to 45% from its freshman run. This crime drama has one of the lowest ratings on the network. Prodigal son ranks fourth in these both measures among the six original dramas which were released by Fox and is just ahead of Filthy Rich and NEXT.

The series starred Tom Payne, Walking Dead star as Malcolm Bright who works as a profiler for NYPD and is the son of Martin Whitley, also known as serial killer The Surgeon. Bright helped Major Crimes division to solve unusual cases. The psychological toll which these cases brought couldn’t be handled by Malcolm so, he handled it by reconnecting with Martin.

Prodigal Sons Season 3 Plot
In the second season, Catherine Zeta-Jones (Oscan winner) was introduced with the motive to boost up the series’ ratings. As season 2 end approaches, Bright is seen searching for his father who escaped the psychiatric hospital. He was also trying to cover up the murder committed by his sister. The series finale was aired on May 18, 2021 at 9/8c.
The third season was canceled by Fox and the announcement for the same was made on May 10, 2021, when two episodes were still remaining of season 2. It is also said that maybe Warner Bro’s are buying the series.
Fans have begun a movement on social media – #SaveProdigalSon. A petition was also set up which currently has over 28,000 signatures. Let’s hope that these efforts prove to be successful and the show returns back.
