The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Episode 4: Will other Handmaid’s will be killed?

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Episode 4 always feels close to our own reality, hitting the same kind of brutal abuse and violence that exists here even in the real world. Season four opens with a whole new arc that introduces fans of otherworldly Netflix shows such as Sabrina and The Haunting of the Hill House.

When we last saw June Osborne, she saved unprecedented children from the cruel rule of Gilead. A  maid rescued her, helped her heal the wound.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Episode 4: What will happen?

With the help of other rebels, June and the other maid hide in a remote farm owned by the aging commander and his wife Esther Keys. Although we don’t see much of her husband, Keys himself plays a key role in the first two episodes of season four.

As Season Four production began, Deadline described Mrs. Keys as “the smart, teenage wife of a very old commander who confidently rules her farm and home”.

First of all, this “confusion” provides new insights into Gilead’s unruly system. To increase the chances of childbirth and increase the size of the population, commanders are encouraged when teenage brides feel more fertile. Wives do not choose their husbands in Gilead, so these poor young women are auctioned off to men in power.

Initially, Esther begins to take her pain and frustration upon the maid, forcing Janine to eat the pig she cares for. RIP Mr. Darcy. We soon find out the reason behind this anger: Mr. Keys physically and sexually abused his teenage wife on a daily basis, inviting other men to rape her.
