Doctor Who Updates: Since it has been suggested that Jodie Whittaker would be leaving the cast of Doctor Who, fans have been curious as to who will now take her role. Rumors have sprung up about various actors from Olly Alexander to Helena Bonham Carter filling her shoes but Adulthood actor Noel Clarke has come out to say that the speculation might not be true.
In conversation with Kate Garraway on Good Morning Britain, on being asked if he might be the next Doctor Who, Noel responded saying, “I do not think that is true at all. Sometimes I might bump into some friends who happen to be doctors and post pictures with them. And people get excited. And I was recently asked if I ‘would ever consider it’, and like any normal person I said ‘I would consider it’ and then I think that was blown out of proportion!”
Noel’s has been one of the names dropped in conversation regarding the next Doctor. And considering how he has previously been in the series, donning the role of Mickey Smith, it wouldn’t be too farfetched.
Kate teased him saying, “You did go off into a parallel universe though, didn’t you? So you can come back as a doctor! See, I know it could work!” to which Noel jokingly added that he would also consider James Bond or any Marvel character.
Singer-songwriter and actor Olly Alexander has also put out a statement admitting he won’t be playing the Doctor either saying, “I would love to – what an amazing role that would be, but it’s not happening I don’t think anytime soon” on an interview on The One Show.
Other names that have been doing the rounds regarding who will be the next Doctor Who is Line of Duty’s Kelly Macdonald, comedian Richard Ayoade, Hollywood actor Micheal Sheen, Death in Paradise’s Kris Marshall, actress and former singer Billie who played Rose Tyler in the first series of Doctor Who, and many more.
With so many people on the list, it seems we will have to wait a little longer to see who dons the role of our favorite character.
