And inside the plot once again, to make his well-worn smugness and unpredictability prominence once more Daemon Targaryen has returned to King’s Landing in the latest episode of the series (SPOILER ALERT!).

Starring as Daemon, Matt Smith, according to some viewers, is at the peak of his acting skill. The English actor is also widely recognized for being cast in more popular series like ‘Doctor Who and ‘The Crown’.

Official Secrets (2019)-

Based on the case of British linguist Katharine Gun’s whistle-blowing as she exposed information involving the illegal spying operation of American and British intelligence services, this movie starred Keira Knightley in the leading role of Gun.

Matt Smith was cast as Martin Bright, the journalist of The Observer to whom Gun passed the information. The movie was released on August 30, 2019, in the US and on October 18 of the same year in the UK.

His House (2020)-

This horror thriller movie is about a refugee couple trying to adjust to life in an English town that is charged with evil happenings. The character that Matt Smith plays in the movie is Mark. It premiered on January 27, 2020, at Sundance Film Festival and was later released on October 30 in the US.

Doctor Who-

The renowned and one of the most successful sci-fi series of all time ‘Doctor Who is primarily the tale of a time lord, referred to as The Doctor, who is an extraterrestrial being appearing as human.

Matt Smith plays the role of the Eleventh Doctor who is an incarnation of the Doctor. He played the Doctor from 2010 to 2013 and received a nomination for the BAFTA TV Awards for Best Actor in 2011.

Last Night in Soho (2021)-

Edgar Wright’s psychological horror movie is about an aspiring fashion designer of the present day who, in her obsession with ’60s’ fashion, dreams that she has been transported to that time. Thomasin McKenzie plays Eloise in the film.

Matt Smith plays the club manager Jack, a character from her dream who traps the 60’s blond girl Sandie (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) in her dream into prostitution. It was released on October 29, 2021, in the UK.

The Forgiven (2021)-

Based on the same named novel by Lawrence Osborne, this movie has a plot that revolves around a soon-to-be-divorced wealthy couple accidentally hitting a Moroccan man and killing him.

Matt Smith plays the couple’s friend Richard Galloway to whose house they bring the dead body. The movie premiered at Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2021, and was released on July 1, 2022, in the US and on September 2 of the same year in the UK.

The Crown-

This popular historical drama series is about Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and is inspired by showrunner Peter Morgan’s drama ‘The Queen and the stage play ‘The Audience’.

Matt Smith has been the main cast in the first two seasons of the series playing Prince Philip for which he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award under the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

House of the Dragon-

This is the prequel of one of the most successful fantasy series of all time ‘Game of Thrones that is set 172 years before the events of GOT and chronicles the story of the Targaryen House’s heyday in Westeros and the eventual intra-house civil war known as The Dance of the Dragon.

Smith here portrays the notorious Daemon Targaryen, the uncle and later husband of Princess Rhaenyra, the focal character of the prequel series.

Womb (2010)-

It is a sci-fi movie starring Eva Green as Rebecca who loses her boyfriend Tommy in an accident, uses his DNA to impregnate herself, and gives birth to the clone of Tommy. Tommy or Thomas is played by Matt Smith in the movie.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)-

Smith played the role of Parson William Collins in this action horror tale of Jane Austen’s renowned novel ‘Pride and Prejudice and also serves as a parody of the novel.

Party Animals-

This is the first series in which Smith starred in a major tv role. The plot revolves around the lives of people related to the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Smith portrays the character of Danny Foster in the series. It ran from January 31 to March 21 of 2007.

Mapplethorpe (2018)-

The movie is the biographical story of renowned American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. Smith plays the titular role in the movie.
