SpongeBob SquarePants Updates: Spongebob Squarepants has revealed the information about how Spongebob and sandy met in the prequel series: Spongebob under years.
As its universe keeps on expanding, is now taking over the world of streaming with Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s under Years, a prequel series following a 10-year-old SpongeBob at summer camp, and also retconned Sandy’s story.
Spongebob Squarepants premiered in 1999 and created by Stephen Hillenburg has been America’s most successful and popular Nicktoon and has been unstoppable across the globe, the animated Nicktoon follows the story of the titular character Spongebob Squarepants in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom alongside friends and few enemies like Plankton.
Squidward Tentacles are his neighbors and coworkers, his boss Mr. Krabs, and his best friends Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks are also part of the show.
Sandy Cheeks however was not a character known by Spongebob Squarepants, as she was introduced in the second segment of the first episode, titled “Tea at the Treedome”, and she drew a lot of attention as she’s one of the few characters that isn’t a sea animal – instead, Sandy is a squirrel, whose life underwater is made possible thanks to the diving suit she wears and the air-filled glass freedom she lives in.
It happened when one good morning, SpongeBob was jellyfish when he saw clams attacking a squirrel and helped her but the clam ate Spongebob instead it’s when the squirrel helped Spongebob and saved him.
After all, they greeted each other and connected very much over the Martial Arts Abilities and so sandy invited Spongebob to the treedom for tea and cookies and that’s how Sandy met Spongebob.
It at least was the official story before the prequel arrived.
SpongeBob SquarePants: What is Sandy’s Backstory
ScreenrantThe series although takes the viewers back to when Spongebob was 10 years old and went to summer camp alongside Patrick and Sandy, where it actually shows that Sandy and Spongebob actually met much before.
This retcon in Sandy’s backstory was teased in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, where a flashback showed Sandy and SpongeBob at Kamp Koral, with Sandy sharing her passion for science with him and mentioning she might “live down here in a glass dome with a tree in it”.
But the meeting of Sandy and Spongebob what so ever retconned in the prequel is different from the main series as they were very much introduced in the first episode.
Also, Spongebob would know what an animal Sandy is because if they met when they were kids, he would have been well aware of what a squirrel is.
The timeline of Spongebob Squarepants is been messy anyway, let’s see what it holds for the viewers in the coming future.
