Death Of Me: Update

Death of Me is set on the same theme as the likes of Midsommar, The Apostle, Hereditary, and many other horror movies- ‘The human sacrifice’, a ritual intended to provide long life and prosperity to a secret society. In this movie, both the protagonists are lured by an entire island of people into participating in the 200-year-old ritual that requires a willing sacrifice.

Death Of Me

Throughout the movie, Christine tries to figure out the whole scheme of things by interacting with the islanders and finding out their plans for her. She learns how they have chosen her to be sacrificed as per the island’s ritual to keep it safe from the tycoon. Christine refuses to believe in the magic of ritual and continues to fight against it till the very end.

In the last scenes, as Christine took off on a motorboat to save herself from the sacrifice, she is engulfed by the approaching typhoon. In the bigger picture of things, it is realized that the islanders never intended to kill her but get her pregnant and make her a part of their stitch-faced community.

After the storm ended, a boatman found Christine, and assuming her dead, dutifully put her in the body bag, casually tossing the amulet in with her. But later, she wakes up in the bag seeming all alive but as one of the islanders said earlier that she’ll be on a spiritual plane somewhere between life and death. It seems that as the islanders were true after all, the island got destroyed by the Typhoon as the ritual couldn’t be completed and Christine continues to suffer from the effects of it.
