Josh Thomas Updates: Josh Thomas has to see about a dog, and not his constant companion John. It’s another canine that he is in charge of, brings Thomas distress so much so that the interview had to be cut short so that he could see the pup in person.
Answering his phone, he replied in a husky voice, “My friend’s mum died and now I have her dog for a bit”, he paused for a moment and then continued- “What am I going to do with this dog?”
and then answering his own question says, “He’ll be OK. He’s just going to have to tough it out for a while.” Later when I complimented him for taking the dog in, he just deflected it in an old charm way, “It is, really the noblest things I’ve ever done.”
Josh Thomas: This time, he’s ready for it
Thomas is 32 and has been a stalwart pop-cultural presence since he was 17 after he won the RAW open-mike competition in Melbourne.
He is a stand-up comedian, dons the hat of creator, writer, and star of the acclaimed dramedy, “Please like me”. He has also appeared on many reality shows as a panelist, contestant and has a clear, distinctive voice in business that rewards sameness.
Even after all these achievements, Thomas’s wicked sense of humor’s most frequent target is Thomas himself. He calls the experience of mixing sound on a series in which he’s the central character as “numb on the face”, as though being in a protective shell, hiding the vulnerabilities, and then continues on his embarrassing anecdotes.
Thomas talks about all the incidents that happened during the shooting of his upcoming show in his own humorous ways. He has high aspirations from this one as well.
He said that he hopes that the show, “Everything’s Gonna Be Okay” comes out to be as successful as “Please Like Me” and proves to be a cult comedy and reaches a larger audience.
Towards the end of the conversation, Thomas reflects on his career in the stand-up field, explains how he found his success kind of embarrassing as he started at 17 and after 10 years of doing what he did best, he decides to quit. “Watching somebody unravel like that, it’s not that fun”, he quoted.
Six years and two TV series later, he’s changed his tune. Or at least he’s beginning to. After all, old habits die hard.
