WandaVision: Theory & Everything we know so far

WandaVision: An interesting fan theory hypothesis Doctor Strange is covertly leading Wanda Maximoff through the various stages of trouble in WandaVision.

WandaVision has thrown viewers head-first into a mysterious world where Wanda Maximoff and Vision are a marriage living within the suburbs and trying to keep their super-powers a secret from their prying neighbors.

The series will ultimately dovetail into the events of the upcoming Doctor Strange within the Multiverse of Madness, though for now, it’s unclear how that will happen.

That said, an intriguing fan theory speculates it’s all to try to go with Doctor Strange privately instructing Wanda through the five stages of sadness following Vision’s death in Avengers: Infinity War.

WandaVision: Update

Posted to the Fan Theories subreddit, the idea suggests Wanda is basically unconscious during WandaVision and has created the show’s warped reality to avoid handling the very fact Vision is gone.

The matter is her powers also are impacting the real-world and tearing the very fabric of the multiverse, creating open pathways between the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s prime reality and other universes.

Hoping to interrupt her out of this state, Doctor Strange is quietly leading Wanda through the five stages of grief, with WandaVision’s first two episodes set within the denial stage.

The idea Strange is trying to interrupt through to Wanda would offer a plausible explanation for the weirder events on WandaVision thus far, just like the scene where Vision’s boss, Mr. Hart begins choking or the shift from a black-and-white sitcom world to a multicolored one at the top of Episode 2.

It might also explain why Wanda seems so troubled during these moments, particularly when she finds a detail — sort of a yellow and red toy helicopter when the setting is black-and-white — that’s clearly out of place. Indeed, if these are Strange’s way of shaking her out of her state, Wanda’s traumatized subconscious would be inclined to reject them.

However, although the Reddit theory also speculates Strange sometimes enters Wanda’s world and poses as Vision, that concept seems unlikely.

For one, WandaVision’s version of Vision is portrayed as having a way of agency when he is not around Wanda and even questions his reality sometimes, like when he asks a co-worker what their company actually makes.

Vision is similarly portrayed as being sexually interested in Wanda, which makes the thought of him secretly being Strange problematic at the best.

Of course, that does not rule out the likelihood that combat Vision only exists in Wanda’s mind.
