Loki Season 2 is being planned, Michael Waldron will be the screenwriter

Loki Season 2 Updates: It looks like Loki won’t be a series on Disney + after all. Tom Hiddleston is reprising his role as Thor’s brother on the upcoming show, which will debut on the streaming service later this year. While it was widely expected to be a limited series, given the seemingly limited amount of ground to cover, Season 2 is reportedly in the works. Additionally, chief writer Michael Waldron is set to return, if a second season gets the official go-ahead from Disney and Marvel Studios.

It was recently reported that Michael Waldron has been asked to write a Star Wars movie for Marvel Studios director Kevin Feige, who is producing and developing the project for Lucasfilm. Waldron also signed a larger deal with Disney that will see him work with the studio. In one of the reports making the announcement, it was said, “The deal should also bring Waldron back to some degree for Loki Season 2.” This strongly implies that Disney and Marvel are planning a second season of the series at some level.

Loki Season 2 Plot

The last time we saw Loki was during the “Time Heist” portion of Avengers: Endgame. He escaped with the Tesseract as the heroes tried to steal it during the Battle of New York, as seen in The Avengers. Loki exploded in an unknown location and at an unknown time with the cube. The series will explore what happened after he left with the Infinity Stone. As we saw in the trailer released during Disney’s Investor Day presentation, it’s going to be a crazy adventure through space and time. But, it’s important to note that Loki, chronologically speaking, met his ultimate fate at the hands of Thanos Infinity War. He dies. There is no way around it.

Regardless, it looks like there are at least Loki Season 2 to explore to do with Tom Hiddleston before he has to face his death. It’s also worth noting that a Production Weekly list hinted that Loki Season 2 was in the works. The cast also includes Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant. Kater Herron directs the series, with Michael Waldron on board as lead writer. Waldron, furthermore, wrote the next Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
