For all Mankind Season 3 Premise
The first crewed mission to the Moon during the Space Race in the late 1960s was a global success for NASA and the United States. Originating from this drama is the question: “What if the Space Race had never ended?”
In an alternate timeline, a Soviet cosmonaut becomes the first human to land on the Moon which devastates morale at NASA but also catalyzes an American effort to catch up. With the Soviet Union diversifying by including a woman in subsequent landings, the US is forced to train women and minorities who were largely excluded from the initial decades of US space exploration.
Season 2 picks up a decade later in 1983. Set against the Cold War, and tension between the United States and the USSR is at its utmost. The greater ambitions of science and space explorations are being put on the line as the Americans and Soviets are vying to conquer resources on the moon.
While the militarization of NASA becomes central to several characters’ stories: it is brought into different plays whereas some find themselves at the height of a conflict that may lead to nuclear war
