Cobra Kai Season 3 Teaser Dropped: Season 4 Renewal, Karate Kid 2 Plot and more

Cobra Kai Season 3:  Fans and martial arts enthusiasts are thrilled as Cobra Kai will be soon back with Season 3. Read on further for updates on the release date and more.

Cobra Kai Season 3 Release Date

Cobra Kai fans have been sitting tight for Season 3 for more than one year now. To their relief, Netflix finally declared the release date in a teaser on October 2. The official release date of Cobra Kai Season 3 is January 8, 2021. This much-awaited third season will continue the story after the violent aftermath of the high school brawl between the dojos.  The outcome doesn’t look for Miguel as seen in the teaser.

The second season of Cobra Kai finished with different cliffhangers that left a lot of questions for future seasons. We were left with a school-wide fight that hospitalized a few of Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso’s students and Johnny’s star student, Miguel, in ICU. This drove Daniel to leave karate and Miyagi-Do did the same by his wife’s demand.

What to expect from Season 3

Season 3 has a likelihood to start off with a time jump, instead of catching up with the events of the second season. William Zabka (the actor playing Johnny Lawrence) hinted that Jonny is in a growing phase so there will be some “ups and downs”. He spoke of how the audience should be ready for some non-chronological events when things weren’t as bad. Furthermore, it’s a common trait to show flashbacks when the main protagonist in a life-threatening situation like Johnny is right now.

Season 3 will stream on Netflix on January 8, 2021.

Cobra Kai Season 4 Announcement

As we’ve said before, Netflix also made the announcement for the renewal of the series after season 3. Cobra Kai season 4 is currently in production as we speak. The trailer shows ‘Season 4 in training’.

Cobra Kai and Karate Kid

Josh Heald, the co-creator, affirmed at the Comic-Con 2019 that Season 3 would acquire its plotline from The Karate Kid 2, which follows Mr. Miyagi and a young LaRusso as they re-visit the karate master’s old home. It will go deep to the roots of Cobra kai and Miyagi-Do. Likewise, we will see Daniel LaRusso return to Okinawa.
