Perry confirmed that she won’t be in attendance via her Instagram account, she posted several screenshots of a viral AI generated deepfake video and captioned that she has some work so she won’t be present.
She all posted a screenshot where her mom can be seen complementing her dress. The image was actually a recreated one from Katy’s 2018 Met Gala appearance.

Perry’s absence also means that her husband Orlando Bloom too won’t be in attendance, who just got his new TV series titled Orlando Bloom: The Edge released, and Perry too is busy with her judging duties at 22nd season of American Idol.
Perry is well known for her unique outfits at Met Gala, she made her debut in 2009 and since then she has been serving some of the most iconic looks and outfits.
The most talked about one was in 2019 when she wore a mini dress while holding a lit up chandelier on her head and waist.
Although she changed her outfit later that night, her outfit would surely go down as one of the most iconic ones in the history of the Met Gala.
Katy Perry is not the only celebrity who will not be able to grace the red carpet this year. The Barbados babe aka Rihanna is down with flu, and so she won’t be able to make it to the Met Gala this year.
