Netflix has released the first featurette, ‘Bringing the World to Life,’ for their forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender series.

Avatar is a live-action adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon cartoon series that follows Aang, the young Avatar, as he trains to master each of the four elements (water, earth, fire, and air) to restore balance to a world threatened by the frightening Fire Nation.

Netflix unveils ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Series Featurette.

The recently released video offers a behind-the-scenes look at Avatar: The Last Airbender, with creator Albert Kim, describing the inspiration for the cultures shown in the program.

The video then continues with several of the adaptation’s cast members, including Ian Ousley, to speak directly to the viewer about their parts.

The actor, who previously starred in an episode of Young Sheldon, plays Sokka, Katara’s (Kiawentiio) brother and one of Aang’s best pals. Ousley was delighted to take on the part because the character discovers that he does not need to be a warrior to be a hero.

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s concept is identical to its animated version, with Katara and Sokka discovering Aang imprisoned in ice. With the Avatar discovered after a century’s absence, the world can now fight back against the Fire Nation.

The greatest challenge for the team is that Aang only knows how to manipulate air when he’s discovered, which means he still has to enhance his powers in the other three elements until he can face Lord Ozai. While on his mission, Aang will encounter loyal friends like Suki (Maria Zhang) and an array of enemies.
