The Solo Leveling anime is based on a manga series created by author Chugong. It all began as an unpublished novel back on February 14, 2014. After its development, the series concluded with 14 volumes containing a total of 270 chapters.
It wasn’t until 2015 that it was officially published and then serialized starting on October 10, 2018, encompassing all 270 chapters.
Essentially, Solo Leveling is a manhwa—a type of Korean comic—written by Chugong along with the late artist DUBU. A-1 Pictures is the official production company bringing the anime to life, led by director Shunsuke Nakashige.
