They learned that the hot springs were made from a dragon’s tears after an Elven Princess died. Eta figured out a clue and made Beta cry to see how the water would react to an elf’s tears.
Surprisingly, a water dragon appeared, and the Shadow Garden team managed to control it. They realized Cid wanted them to free the dragon’s soul trapped in the hot springs.
