Boy Swallows Universe Netflix Official Teaser Released!

The first teaser for the limited TV series Boy Swallows Universe, based on Trent Dalton’s famous best-selling novel of the same name, has been released by Netflix.

The trailer has Phoebe Tonkin in the same carefree girl attitude — but she’s more than that in the plot since she’s a drug addict mother. Travis Fimmel, on the other hand, has a slightly odd demeanor.

Boy Swallows Universe Trailer Previews Drugs and Drama in the 1980s. The trailer, set to the music of Paul Kelly’s classic Dumb Things, takes us to the 1980s, an era of mullets, Days of Our Lives.

The film doesn’t reveal much, transitioning from a beautiful Brisbane and photos of a happy family to a spiral into drug addiction and violence. However, anybody who has read Trent Dalton’s 2018 novel on which it is based would recognize the photos.

Throughout the teaser, just one word is spoken: Eli, the young lead of Boy Swallows Universe, sent via the red phone he discovers in a secret bunker.

The story chronicles Eli’s path as he navigates a troubled home life and criminal undertones. Eli’s childhood was far from average. His mother and stepfather are both drug dealers, and his babysitter is a convicted criminal.

Despite the chaos, Eli remains dedicated to achieving his goal of being a great journalist. As seen by the trailer and the novel on which it is based, the TV series addresses themes of love, fate, determination, and chasing goals despite odds.

The Cast and Crew of Boy Swallows Universe.

Netflix has assembled an impressive cast of actors for the story’s significant roles. Felix Cameron, a young actor, plays Eli Bell. Gus Bell, Eli’s nonverbal older brother, is played by Lee Tiger Halley.

Travis Fimmel plays Lyle Orlik, Eli, and Gus’s abusive, drug-dealing stepfather. The boys’ missing father, Robert Bell, will be played by Simon Baker, while their imprisoned mother, Frances Bell, will be played by Phoebe Tonkin.

Slim, an octogenarian criminal and the only semi-stable grownup in the Bells’ life, is played by Bryan Brown. Anthony La Paglia of Without a Trace plays the main villain and drug dealer, Tytus Broz. Sophie Wilde plays Eli’s love interest, the far more mature crime reporter Caitlyn Spies.

Ivan Kroll, played by Christopher James Baker, is Broz’s henchman. HaiHa Lee plays local Vietnamese business lady Bich Dang, while Zachary Wan plays her son and Eli’s classmate Darren.

Deborah Mailman plays Mrs. Birkbeck, Eli’s guidance counselor and one of the few grownups with whom he can speak freely. Teddy, a former Lyle buddy who works for Tytus Broz and becomes Eli’s rival, is played by Ben O’Toole.

Finally, Eloise Rothfield, 13 years old, and Millie Donaldson, 17 years old, play Shelly Huffman, another student in Eli’s class.

The release date for the coming-of-age criminal drama has yet to be confirmed by Netflix.
