The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar Worth Watching or Not?

American filmmaker Wes Anderson has directed the upcoming American anthology movie ‘The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar’. The movie is adapted from the same short story from Roald Dahl’s 1977 collection titled- ‘The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More’.

The movie serves as the second movie adaptation of a Dahl work under the direction of Anderson, the first one being the 2009 stop-motion animated comedy film ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’.

The plot of the movie is divided into four parts that narrate the darkest and most sinister tales known of Roald Dahl. The cast members portray an array of characters in each of the four chapters leading to the primary Henry Sugar story.

When Will ‘The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar’ be Released on Netflix?

Netflix acquired the Roald Dahl Story Company for $686 million in September of 2021. On January 6, 2022, it was reported that Anderson was to write and direct a short story adaptation of Roald Dahl with Netflix as distributor.

The day after that the project was confirmed. Primary filming also began that month in London. The movie was originally reported as a feature film. But in June of 2023, Anderson stated that it is going to be a collection of short films.

The movie The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is set to premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival as an out-of-competition entry. It will be released on October 13, 2023 on Netflix.

Benedict Cumberbatch-

In the titular role and as the primary character of the main story Henry Sugar we will find English actor Benedict Cumberbatch in the upcoming movie.

Emmy-awarded and Academy Award-nominated Cumberbatch has starred in a number of notable and critically acclaimed films and television series.

For his portrayal of Alan Turing in the period biographical thriller movie ‘The Imitation Game‘ and of Phil Burbank in the revisionist Western psychological drama film ‘The Power of the Dog’ he was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Actor in 2015 and 2022 respectively. Ralph Fiennes-

Academy and Emmy Award-nominated Ralph Fiennes has been cast in the role of British popular children’s literature author Roald Dahl in the upcoming movie.

In 1994 Fiennes was nominated for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Amon Göth in the epic historical drama film ‘Schindler’s List’.

Then in 1997, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for playing Almásy in the epic romantic war drama film ‘The English Patient’.

His other notable film credits include ‘The End of the Affair’, ‘The Constant Gardener‘, ‘Coriolanus’, ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, ‘Bernard and Doris’, ‘The Duchess‘, ‘The Menu‘, etc.

British actor Dev Patel is another cast member of the upcoming movie. Patel’s breakthrough role came with eight Academy Award winner British drama film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ in which he portrayed the lead character Jamal Malik.
