This tinkers with reports that made the rounds in late June about what leaker Tom Henderson had to say about Battlefield 2042’s mystery multiplayer mode. Fans shouldn’t hold any hope for balanced gameplay options, however, of a less competitive nature. The YouTuber used a Photoshop tool to clean up the quality of the photo, then revealed his work by posting it to Battlefield 2042’s Reddit page.

Unsurprisingly, other fans quickly replaced the mystery image on the Valparaiso map from Battlefield Bad Company 2. Wikipedia’s comparison photos of Bad Company 2’s Valparaiso locale and the Battlefield 2042 teaser trailer show a fair match.

This could serve as further evidence that Battlefield 2042’s mystery mode will drop players from property to classic maps. Luckily, the wait to know for sure is probably about to end. Dice plans to attend EA Play Live, a digital event that will eventually reveal more about this fall’s all-new Battlefield entry.

Given that fans have been expecting a robust online experience, DICE and Electronic Arts said in an announcement of the futuristic shooter ahead of E3 2021 that Battlefield 2042 could ship without a one-player campaign mode. Such reports have so far received mixed reactions from battlefield loyalists. However, time will tell whether the installments coming from this move benefit or are harmful.
