Is Camp Courage Based On a True Story?
Since it’s a documentary, ‘Camp Courage’ is indeed based on a true story – in fact, it’s a live documentary of the real action!
In 2022, a young Ukrainian girl named Milana traveled with her grandmother Olga for a long summer camp in the Ukrainian Alps. Be warned, this was anything but a typical camping trip – given the pair were refugees of the Russian-Ukraine War.
However, the camp was kind enough to host other families affected by the conflict with Russia, and on this gloomy backdrop – we see Milana and Olga’s extreme sports journey.
The documentary is 31 minutes which is short but enough time to take a glimpse into Milana and Olga’s adventure trip as they push themselves to meet the camp’s terrain with utter bravery and courage.
The short film however reaches a point where Milana is faced with the ultimate dilemma of overcoming her fear and climbing the final summit, thereby making for a rather emotional scene.
In the gloomy backdrop of the war, Camp Courage throws light on the quiet resilience of the family members who have to figure out how to survive amidst the war and in its wake.
