In the final episode of ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 3, titled ‘Opening Night,’ we start with Donna explaining her career in producing and her deep desire to protect her son, Cliff, through flashbacks.

Loretta Durkin teams up with Mabel, Charles, and Oliver to talk about some fresh clues in the Ben Glenroy murder case.

They have a suspect that Donna DeMeo, the person who produced Oliver’s play, might be the one who killed Ben. They believe she poisoned Ben on opening night to save her son’s Broadway career.

Even though there’s no solid proof connecting Donna to the crime scene, Loretta surprises everyone by showing a handkerchief that belonged to Ben.

It has Donna’s lipstick mark on it, and she got it from Dickie. Loretta’s got a plan to reveal Dickie’s real parentage to him after the play. Loretta plans to tell Dickie about his true parentage after the play.

The trio plans to force a confession from Donna on opening night at the Gooseberry Theater, where they confront her.

Donna shocks everyone by admitting that she poisoned Ben. But then, Mabel presents the handkerchief as evidence, and Donna’s confession doesn’t stop there. She also admits to pushing Ben down the elevator shaft. Donna begs to watch her son’s play before turning herself in.

Meanwhile, Oliver takes on the lead role in his play due to Jonathan’s anxiety. Loretta opens up about her connection to Dickie, and Mabel decides to follow Donna, which ultimately leads to the discovery of Ben Glenroy’s real murderer.

In the final act of the episode, Oliver’s play concludes with a powerful performance by Loretta. Mabel follows Cliff to the rafters and discovers that he pushed Ben down the elevator shaft, causing his death.

The handkerchief actually belonged to Cliff, and Donna confessed to protect her son from getting into trouble.

Cliff admits to killing Ben after a heated confrontation. Ben had discovered Donna’s plot and insulted Cliff, leading to a physical altercation that ended in Ben’s accidental death. Donna saves Cliff from jumping. After the play’s success, Donna and Cliff are arrested, likely facing serious charges.

Oliver rekindles his love story with Loretta, and she’s got plans to relocate to Los Angeles. Mabel declines Tobert’s offer but considers a long-distance relationship.

The murder mystery is solved, and celebrations continue. However, a sniper shoots Charles, but it turns out they mistook Sazz for him.

Sazz dies, leaving an unfinished message. The season ends with a new murder mystery, suggesting Charles may be the target. The incomplete message raises questions about the attacker’s identity and motive, setting the stage for a potential fourth installment.
