In episode 6 of the anime, something unexpected happened to Akira and Kencho. They had been enjoying a leisurely stroll in the fancy stores of Tokyo when suddenly, the city experienced a power outage.

This left them without electricity, making it difficult to get things like water and other essentials. In the midst of this darkness, the stars in the sky seemed to shine brighter, triggering memories of Akira’s childhood with his parents.

This emotional experience led him to make a decision – they would leave Tokyo and head to Gunma. Luckily, Kencho supported this idea.

The next day, they packed up their belongings and set out on their journey, saying farewell to the city.

Since a long trip like this required a comfortable mode of transportation, they visited a nearby showroom for camping cars.

Surprisingly, they encountered Shizuka there, who was also planning to leave Tokyo. Akira hoped she’d join them, but Shizuka declined due to the dangers of forming alliances in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.

However, her lack of driving skills made her rethink, and she eventually agreed to join. After dealing with a zombie horde at the showroom, they quickly chose an RV and hit the road.

Unfortunately, they faced tire trouble, and Kencho got seriously injured while fixing the bike’s flat tire. Just when things seemed dire, Kosugi, Akira’s job supervisor, arrived with his men in baseball outfits and offered help.

They changed the tires and treated Kencho’s injuries, but in return, Akira had to work for Kosugi for two days. As they continued their journey, they encountered more challenges and ended up at Kosugi’s truck stop.

Akira noticed that the people there were drained of energy, so he tried to uplift their spirits by cooling some beer bottles in the freezer. This upset Kosugi, but when his men found the beers, he took credit for appearing generous.

Later, Kosugi revealed to Akira that he, along with others, felt like they were just cogs in a system, devoid of happiness.
