A Whisker Away (2020)-
This is an anime romantic fantasy movie the plot of which revolves around a girl of 8th grade named Miyo Sasaki who transforms herself into a cat which leads the line between animal and human to become blurred.
Mirai Shida gave voice to the role of Miyo Sasaki in the movie. It was released on Netflix on June 18, 2020.
My Hero Academia: Two Heroes (2018)-
This Japanese animated superhero movie is based on the characters of Kōhei Horikoshi’s manga series ‘My Hero Academia‘.
The plot is focused upon the leading hero item exhibition of the world named I-Expo. As Deku visits that exhibition, he finds a sinister plan that unfolds with the villains hacking the security system.
Daiki Yamashita gave voice to the character of Dekh aka Izuku Midoriya in the movie. It was released in Japan on August 3, 2018.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (2021)-
This Japanese animated dark fantasy movie is adapted from Gege Akutami’s manga series ‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’ which is a prequel to Akutami’s other manga series ‘Jujutsu Kaisen‘.
The plot revolves around Yuta Okkotsu who, after gaining control of a cursed and extremely powerful spirit, becomes enrolled by sorcerers at the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School as they help him to learn how to control his power while keeping an eye on him.
Megumi Ogata gave voice to the role of Yuta Okkotsu in the movie. It was released on December 24, 2021.
Spirited Away (2001)-
The plot follows a ten years old girl named Chihiro who visits a seemingly abandoned amusement park with her parents.
After finding out that her parents have turned into giant pigs, she comes across a mysterious Haku who informs her that the park is full of supernatural beings for whom it serves as a resort and Chihiro needs to work there to free her parents and herself.
Rumi Hiiragi gave voice to the character of Chihiro in the movie. It won Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. The movie was released on July 20, 2001 in Japan.
Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King (2023)-
This Japanese animated movie is adapted from Yūki Tabata’s manga series- ‘Black Clover‘. The plot is set in a world that is full of magic and is focused upon a boy named Asta who possesses no magic.
Despite that, he is determined to become the Wizard King by proving his power, overcoming adversity, and keeping his promises to his friends. Gakuto Kajiwara gave voice to the character of Asta in the movie. It was released on June 16, 2023.
Violet Evergarden: The Movie (2020)-
This Japanese animated movie is adapted from the light novel series of Violet Evergarden. The plot is set in the aftermath of war and is centered upon a young girl who was used in the war as a tool.
Now carrying the scars of burns, she begins to try to learn to properly live and discover her true feelings towards the Major by going back to her past.
Yui Ishikawa gave voice to the character of Violet Evergarden in the movie. It was released on September 18, 2020.
Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop (2021)-
Kyōhei Ishiguro directed this Japanese animated slice-of-life romantic comedy-drama movie the plot of which revolves around a self-conscious bubbly girl and a shy boy expressing himself through haiku who meet on a sunny and bright day and share a magical but brief summer. The movie premiered at Shanghai International Film Festival on July 25, 2020.
When Marnie Was There (2014)-
Hiromasa Yonebayashi directed this Japanese animated psychological drama film that is adapted from the same named novel by Joan G. Robinson.
The plot follows a young girl who, after being sent to the country for health reasons, develops a friendship with a young girl with flowing blonde hair named Marine.
As the friendship begins to unravel, Marine is found to have closer ties to the protagonist. The movie was released on July 19, 2014.
My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising (2019)-
This Japanese animated superhero movie is the sequel to the 2018 film. The plot brings back Deku as he becomes determined to protect a group of islanders from a villain possessing an unfathomable Quirk with the help of other heroes of Class 1-A. The movie was released in Japan on December 20, 2019.
The Wind Rises (2013)-
Hayao Miyazaki directed this Japanese animated historical drama movie from the production company of Studio Ghibli the plot of which is centered upon a Japanese aviation engineer named Jiro Horikoshi who possesses a lifelong love of flight and is responsible for the creation of the A6M World War II fighter plane.
Hideaki Anno gave voice to the character of Jiro Horikoshi in the movie. It was nominated for Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and was released in Japan on July 20, 2013.
