While details about Severance season 2 remain largely shrouded in mystery, it has been confirmed that production is already underway.

The series, masterminded by creator Dan Erickson and backed by the production prowess of Ben Stiller, left viewers gripping the edge of their seats with its gripping cliffhanger finale in season 1.

Severance Season 2 was initially anticipated to debut on Apple TV+ by early 2024. Unfortunately, fans might need to brace themselves for a potential delay in the release of the new season, extending the wait possibly until 2025.

This delay stems from the ongoing Writers’ Strike led by the Writers Guild of America (WGA), which forced the production of Severance Season 2 to halt in May.

While the exact timeline remains uncertain, the impact of the strike on the production schedule has led to the postponement of the season’s release, leaving eager viewers anticipating updates on when they can delve back into the intriguing world of Severance.

What To Expect From Severance Season 2?

Severance Season 2
Vulture

In the last episode of Severance, the innies, who are the people with divided memories, take control of their lives outside of their workplace using special chips called Lumon Severance Chips.

These chips have a feature called Overtime Contingency that lets them do things outside of work that are hard to reverse.

For example, Mark tells his sister Devon about the bad things happening at Lumon, Helly, who turns out to be an Eagan, publicly speaks against Severance at a Lumon event, and Irving tries to meet with Burt. Cobel, a person in charge, threatens to punish Helly for what she did.

In Severance season 2, we can expect to see Lumon trying to deal with the rebellion of the Macro-Data Refinement (MDR) group without hurting their other side, called outies.

There are also many secrets about Lumon that might be explained in the new season, like what happened to Mark’s wife Gemma, who came back as Ms. Casey in Lumon, the reason for having baby goats in a room, and Lumon’s bigger plans with the Severance Chips, hinted at by Helly’s talk with her father.

Severance Season 2 might also show more about the lives of the outies, including the strange hints about Irving’s life outside.

Additionally, in a conversation online, the creator of Severance, Dan Erickson, hinted that Helena Eagan could be the main bad character in season 2 and that there might be different levels to the Severance procedure.
