Michelle Buteau plays Mavis Beaumont, a fashion-forward New Yorker attempting to enjoy the new single lifestyle in the eight-episode series Survival Of The Thickest.

Based on Buteau’s novel of the same name, Survival of the Thickest will be available on the streaming service on Thursday, July 13. The show was approved in January 2022.

Netflix released the first trailer, which promises plenty of laughter and amusing celebrity appearances.

On May 24, Netflix released the first Survival of the Thickest trailer. That’s a key message in Buteau’s memoir, where she writes about her life, work, and relationship with her body, including the breast reduction that made her feel “free in a way that [she] hadn’t been since before puberty.”

Bell will play Khalil, Mavis’s best friend and first phone call after high school. But in his very late 30s, he has started to doubt what matters and if life is worth complicated for the right person.

Smith will take on Marley, a self-made millionaire in his early fifties. She’s a New York socialite with a fresh luxury manicure and the best both day and night serums money can buy.

She offers that Aries tell-it-like-it-is energy, but there’s still an ever-present warm big sister vibe. She wants what is greatest for everyone and understands exactly what that is.

Buteau called Survival of the Thickest her “dream show” in a recent Instagram post, and she took a moment to show gratitude to the people who helped make it happen.
