Becoming an instant classic since its release, Spirited Away has become the second highest-grossing film under Studio Ghibli. It can be seen in the words of Comic Book Resources: “set the bar extremely high for all anime movies that followed it — including Studio Ghibli’s”.

Under the hands of Hayao Miyazaki, the director, and Toshio Suzuki, the producer are apt for the craft. Along with producing Spirited Away, the studio is also known for generating masterpieces like My Neighbour Totoro and Ponyo.

Finding its way to the heart of fans, the anime was released on 20 July 2001 with a running time of 125 minutes.

Under the budget of $19.2 million, it has marked a box office collection of $395.8 million worldwide. Thus, categorizing it as one of the hit classics. But is this enough to remember the classic? The answer is no because Spirited Away carries bunches of reason and here are amazing two:

Spirited Away A Unique Plot: Chihiro And Her Pig Parents.

Following the story of a very young girl named Chihiro, also follows her journey to protect her parents from a lifetime transformation of being a pig. It is in her hand to save parents who may never turn back to their original existence as humans.

Going with a job under Yubaba, a witch, who allows Chihiro to help her parents if she would be able to identify her pig parents present in the pen. She goes through many struggles like making tough decisions, strangling between herself and her family, and more.

Looking at the technicalities then it has produced and crafted story and animation “better than any Disney films” ever seen. Despite having cultural barriers it showed diverse universality with fascinating stories. Its influence can be easily seen in Disney movies like Frozen and Brave.

Value Friendship While Learning To Grow

The film started with the leading character Chihiro and her parents going to their new home while leaving the old one behind. She was seen with a bouquet that was given by one of her friends whom she might leave behind to carry her journey to her new house.

This shows the value of friendship which was later carried by a boy of her age called Haku. Haku enters the story while trying to get Chihiro away from this spirited world however, water was already above the circumstances.

Even after knowing the real existence of Haku being the apprentice of Yubaba, the witch, and getting warning from others not to trust him, Chihiro decided to be on his side which can be seen through the way she protected him. Apart from him, it was Lin appears to be like a sibling to Chihiro.
