It seems that the ending of Scream 6 is somewhat complex, so let’s start all the way back at Scream 5 firstly. In the 2022 “prequel,” Ghostface made a comeback and tortured a new generation of youngsters, including Randy Meeks’ niece and nephew as well as Billy Loomis’ daughter, who wasn’t his own child.

In the end, it was revealed that Amber and Richie Kirsch were the murderers. Amber and Richie first connected with one another through the internet and bonded over their shared passion for the Stab movies.

By the end of Scream 5, Richie and Amber had both passed away, as is customary with these things. Yet, it turned out that Scream was still working with Richie.

The survivors are followed in Scream 6 as they move to New York City to attend college. Except for Sam, who is devastated by the self-defense murder of her fictitious boyfriend Richie and horrified by the fact that she actually kind of enjoyed it, everyone is doing OK.

Even worse, the internet has come to believe that Sam was the real killer all along and had just set Richie up. Everything goes to hell when Ghostface then appears.

Scream six ends in a spooky abandoned movie theatre that Richie turned into a shrine to Ghostface after nearly an hour of stabbing, running, and hearing ominous phone calls.

Later, it is revealed that Richie’s father, brother, and sister—all of whom have been driven insane by grief—are the murderers.

They even adopted cover identities to move in with our heroes as housemates, spreading the notion that Sam was the true killer. Richie was able to easily approach his victims because his father also happened to be a police officer.

The ending occurs swiftly and isn’t perfectly factual. It appears the evil ones intended to kill Sam after accusing her of murdering her own half-sister.

In spite of his father’s confession that he assisted in the initial construction of Richie’s Ghostface shrine, it appears as though Richie’s family is in total denial about the fact that he was a psychopathic serial killer.

That doesn’t matter in the end because the heroes miraculously live while all three villains die.

At this time, there has been no announcement made regarding when Scream 7 will be made available. The film’s creators, though, are eager to expand the series.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett expressed their desire to continue the franchise in an interview with Deadline.

The ending of Scream 6 also made a suggestion that Sam has more of a story to tell. She might end up becoming the first Final Girl to turn Ghostface.

Although everything is still up in the air, we anticipate that Scream 7’s fate will be determined by how well Scream 6 does at the box office.

The Post-Credits Scene from Scream 6

Mindy Meeks-Martin says in the post-credits scene of Scream 6 that “not all movies need a post-credits scene.” The scenario cleverly seems to be a continuation of Mindy’s monologue outlining the conventions of horror films and franchises.

The post-credits scene in Scream 6 is yet another meta moment that takes aim at franchise filmmaking, the propensity for them, and viewer expectations that they will be present.

The dialogue in the post-credits scene of the horror movie fits with its continuous, self-aware commentary. It doesn’t technically hint at anything for a subsequent Scream film, but Scream 6’s structure makes perfect sense with it.
