In the film, adapted from the novel by Joyce Carol Oates, which tells a fictionalized version of Marilyn Monroe’s life story, Ana de Armas embraces her character with grace and charm.
Although the film is a straightforward biopic, her performance finds the emotional truth at the heart of the story.

Ana de Armas Said I really didn’t know about Marilyn. I had watched a few of her movies and knew she was an actress, but nothing deeper than that.

I won’t say at what age, but it was in Cuba. I had a lot of freedom. We could play in the street and go to the beach and come home only after dinner. And then we went out again until we had to go to bed.
One of those days I was playing in the park, we went behind the trees and we kissed.

Yes. We were neighbors so I had no choice.
Ana de Armas shared In Blonde, we recreated a lot of scenes from the movies she starred in. I’ve seen them all multiple times, the ones we recreated I’ve watched repeatedly. The director, Andrew, is very precise and detailed.
We had two monitors on set, one playing the actual scene with Marilyn and one playing us. We had to do everything in place or it wouldn’t move on. It was a lot of pressure work, but also we had fun.
Doing those scenes was overwhelming; it felt very strange and a little surreal.

Well, I found out I’m not that bad at doing stunts. I’m much more athletic than I thought! And I’m really good at handling babies. Any baby that cries or is uncomfortable or won’t go to sleep or whatever, give it to me. I’ll let the baby sleep. I’m just good with them!
