Black Panther Wakanda Forever: 2 Character Were to Play Black Panther

Published by

Black Panther Wakanda Forever Writer Reveals 2 Characters who were considered to be the new Black Panther.

It was hailed by many as revolutionary as it was Marvel’s first film with a predominantly black cast and their first superhero film with a black lead. For many black viewers, it was a watershed moment the first time they felt like they were seeing themselves on screen in a major Hollywood production from the clothes to the names of the characters.

The sequel burst into theaters on the 11th of this month and broke box office records like its original.

However, the writer of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever recently admitted in an interview that several characters were being considered for the role of Black Panther.

Who would play Black Panther In Black Panther Wakanda Forever?

After actor Chadwick Boseman passed away in 2020, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had to make several adjustments, the most important being who would be the next Black Panther within the MCU.

The actors and executives at Marvel agreed that this work should not simply be replaced. The position, therefore, had to be filled by one of the existing cast members. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, writer Joe Robert Cole mentioned which characters are being considered.

“We kicked around ideas and tried to extrapolate where the story is going and what’s the most compelling choice. What’s the best path? And where do you go after the film takes those characters? M’Baku was definitely someone who got a bit of a kick out of it.’

Cole shared.

Another character scouted for the role was Nakia, played by Lupita Nyong’o, one of Wakanda’s most formidable warriors who serve as a spy and keeper of the country’s secrets. She is also the romantic interest of King T’Challa in the 2018 film Black Panther.

As it turns out, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever clearly explains Nakia’s whereabouts throughout the film. While the answer is unexpected, it serves as Ryan Coogler’s final tribute to Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa. If we revealed that, it would be a major spoiler for those who haven’t seen the film. However, Cole also said:

“It was dug up! Her name was certainly dug up.”

Shuri, T’Challa’s (Letitia Wright) younger sister, eventually takes charge. Cole argued that the casting of Shuri was more straightforward since the character replaces Black Panther in the Marvel comics.

“I think the best way to put it is the natural organicity of her becoming a Panther [because of what’s happening in the comics,” he said. “But you kick the tires on all kinds of ideas. And you just want to take the best decision and do what’s best for the story.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has already received positive reviews for the film’s gripping narrative, so maybe solving this puzzle will have a bigger impact than anyone could have imagined. The film is still being broadcast nationally.
