MSI Titan GT77: Everything You Need to Know!

MSI’s GT77 Titan is a genuinely powerful 17.3-inch gaming laptop. Thanks to a 12th Generation Intel Core HX CPU, a high-wattage Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 Ti graphics card, plus quad storage drives, this huge laptop—possibly the biggest sold today—offers Performance comparable to top-end desktops.

It set new records in our benchmarks while maintaining near-all-day battery life. It also includes unusual creature comforts, such as a mechanical keyboard with Cherry switches and full RGB lighting.

Performance of the Desktop-Class Intel Core HX

The “Alder Lake” Core HX CPU from Intel, a mobile processor with more cores and a more excellent power rating than Intel’s H-class laptop CPUs, powers the GT77 Titan.

The top-of-the-line Core i9-12900HX in our MSI test unit has 16 cores (eight Performance, eight Efficient), 24 threads, and runs at 5.0GHz in turbo mode, much as the Core i9-12900K for desktop computers.

In our first Core HX testing, it outperformed Intel’s prior fastest mobile chip, the Core i9-12900 HK, and performed within 10% of the Performance of the desktop CPU.

The MSI Titan GT77’s audio system

Although the Titan’s top-firing speakers and woofers perform admirably, a good set of headphones is still preferable.

The vocals and guitars on Matt Maeson’s “Hallucinogenics” were prominent, and I could make out some hand claps even though they were a little buried in the background. Like many computers, the bass was not up to par. The music grew loud and wonderful, filling the tiny space in our office. It is distorted at its loudest, but it’s plenty loud before you get there.

Battery Life

Regarding battery life, we don’t often have high expectations for gaming laptops, especially for desktop replacements. But the Titan took us by surprise in a little aspect. We were able to get 6 hours of battery life at 90% battery life, which is enough for gaming laptops.

Along with a 99.99WHr battery, MSI has included a 330W AC Adaptor that can charge your battery fast. However, quick charging of the battery is not a requirement in a gaming laptop because the bulk of gamers plays with a charger plugged in. The same battery is included with its competition, the MSI Stealth GS77. But, the charging adaptors differ.

Four Fans to Maintain It Cool

The GT77 Titan’s cooling merits its section. With four fans and vapor-chamber heatsinks, this laptop tackles the difficulty of desktop-level heat in a tight frame.

The arrangement isn’t tranquil, but it’s noisier than other high-end gaming laptops. Thankfully, the noise level is low for less demanding tasks like web browsing and operating office software.

In conclusion

The MSI Titan GT77 is a powerful, extremely costly gaming PC built for maximum Performance. In most areas, it succeeds, but whether the Performance the HX gives for the price difference over an HK, particularly in gaming, is up to what your bank account can handle remains to be seen.

The Titan appeals to what I term the “gaming professional.” That is someone who not only plays games but also creates films, edits images, broadcasts, or performs other creative work on the side to help offset some of the costs.
