Published by

Squid Game, a global sensation, is coming back for season 2 on Netflix. Nevertheless, according to the series’ creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, we’ll have to wait a while—possibly until 2024.

For the time being, we’ll be discussing all we currently know about Squid Game season 2 on Netflix, including what to anticipate, new cast members, production updates, and the Netflix release date.

Squid Game, a South Korean thriller series from Netflix, is one of the most well-liked works we’ve seen from the nation since Kingdom and Crash Landing on You. It was written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk.

The Netflix series is a testament to the company’s expanding presence in South Korea, where hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested in Korean films and television programs.

We had a hunch that Squid Game would be well-liked, but we had no idea the K-Drama would become the global sensation that it has. With a viewership that exceeds hundreds of millions, Squid Game is now the most popular Netflix Original ever.

Here is What more Hwang Dong-hyuk, the Creator of the Squid Game Shared about Season 2.

Naturally, there was a lot of uncertainty about the series’ future given how popular it has grown. The fact that Netflix had approved the show for a second season was the worst kept secret in the world.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, has received several messages following the success of the show, and he hasn’t been reticent to respond with his opinions.

But Dong-mind hyuk’s has been working, as he acknowledged that he already has a rough outline of the Squid Game season 2 plot in his head. Hwang Dong-hyuk reportedly said that season 2 will come someday at a red carpet event for a special showing at Neuehouse Hollywood, according to AP News;

“For season two, I do have a basic plot idea; it’s all in my head, and I’m now thinking. It will happen eventually, but I am unable to give you a specific time frame.”

The Squid Game Season 2 will be released on Netflix, according to Ted Sarandos, the company’s chief content officer, in January 2024.

Hwang Dong-hyuk disclosed that he is in talks with Netflix for a second and third season during an interview with the Korea Times.

“I’m in discussions with Netflix for Season 2 and Season 3. We will eventually reach a conclusion.”

Given the initial hesitation, Hwang Dong-hyuk had to join the brand for a second season, this news comes as a huge shock. However, the Korean director’s creative mind must be alight with suggestions for where the tale might go next.

We weren’t surprised that Squid Game was renewed for a second season given its enormous popularity. Squid Game has made it into the top 10 rankings of 94 different nations.
