iPad Pro 2022: Price, Design, Battery Life, and Much More

The iPad Pro (2022) was one of our favorite slates from last year, as Apple’s Pro tablets offer plenty of power and great-looking screens. So, if the company continues its winning streak, the 2022 version could be one of the best tablets of 2022.

Nonetheless, Apple has updated its premium tablet every year since its release. So, we’re excited to see what Apple has in store for 2022 after last year’s iPad Pro was one of the most significant updates ever.

iPad Pro 2022: Price

The iPad Pro 2022 price will be another premium product.  We expect the 11-inch model to receive at least the same $100 price increase as the 12.9-inch model did last year if the rumored mini-LED display is introduced.

The tablet would then start at $899 for the 11-inch model and $1,099 for the 12.9-inch model. That is, of course, the entry-level price, with the cost currently rising to $2,199 for a 2TB 12.9-inch model with 5G connectivity.

However, these prices are significantly lower than the corresponding configuration prices for the 2021 model, implying that the 2022 series will be easier on your wallet.

Design

When you unwrap this latest and greatest 12.9-inch iPad and lift it out of the box, the first thing you’ll notice is that the design hasn’t changed one bit. That’s not a bad thing because this tablet still looks stunning with its premium aluminum case and edge-to-edge display, making it the best-looking iPad on the market.

The second design change mentioned by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is a glass back for the possible introduction of wireless charging. While this has long been a feature of Apple’s non-SE iPhones.

There is speculation that it will be enhanced with reverse-wireless charging. Allowing it to recharge the batteries of other devices such as your iPhone, Apple Watch, or AirPods.

Battery Life

Both the 2021 and 2020 iPad Pros lasted about ten hours of standard use on a single charge, according to our testing. Isn’t that correct? No, because standard use’ includes things like watching Netflix and browsing social media.

Suppose you use your iPad Pro as a professional (as the name implies), editing video, music, or images, working on multiple documents at once, or even playing games. In that case, you may notice that the battery drains quickly.

Indeed, the iPad Pro’s battery drains so quickly that plugging it in a while working only offsets the power use and does not charge it back up.

Other Features

The iPad Pro (2021) has the same amount of processing power as the most recent iMac, Mac mini, and MacBook models. However, despite the massive power under the hood, this tablet retains the same svelte 6.4mm case.

This is especially impressive given that Apple still manages to fit an edge-to-edge 12.9-inch screen and three distinct camera sensors.

Face ID unlocks the iPad in seconds no matter which way you hold it, and it makes logging into secure apps, purchasing apps, and renting movies a breeze. With the iPad Pro, Apple Pencil remains one of the best tools for taking handwritten notes, signing important PDFs on the go, editing photos, and creating digital artwork.
