Kung Fu Season 3 Release Date, Cast, Plot, and Latest Information

Kung Fu Season 3 is coming sooner than some fans might realize. Although the series was a mid-season release for the first two seasons, it was moved to The CW’s fall lineup for the 2022-2023 television season.

This likely has to do with the lack of superhero TV, with the exception of Stargirl, which will make its fall debut on August 31st on the network until 2023. The CW’s fall premieres have traditionally included The Flash, Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow.

But with The Flash taking place until midseason and the last two Arrowverse shows being canceled, there’s a need for action drama to help bolster the fall lineup.

That’s why the new Kung Fu slot, which pairs better with the pros, is the Walker franchise and The Winchesters than, say, Riverdale.

Although we’re less than three months away from the season 3 premiere and information about what to expect is still coming in, we can tell you what we know so far. Here are all the details on the upcoming new season of Kung Fu!

Kung Fu Season 3 Release Date

The third season will premiere on Wednesday, October 5 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW after a new episode of Stargirl Season 3.

Who Will Be Back in Kung Fu Season 3?

Since “Kung Fu” is so early in production for Season 3, there isn’t much new in terms of casting. But the CW series wouldn’t be complete without its star Olivia Liang. As Nicky returns to her home after the Season 2 earthquake, it’s clear her story isn’t over.

In addition to Liang reprising his role, fans can expect the rest of the Shen family to make appearances as well. For those characters whose arcs were left up in the air, they were recently updated.

Henry and Nicky’s relationship may be ambiguous right now, but Christina Kim’s statements suggest that the two will reunite in Season 3, which means that Eddie Liu could be back for the new season. The return of Zhilan will be even more exciting.

Her fate seemed dire in the season finale after she sacrificed herself. However, according to TV Line, Yvonne Chapman has been officially confirmed to return as a morally ambiguous character. Sebastian (JB Tadena) is also preparing to return, and this time as a series regular.

“He brought so much depth and emotion to the character of Sebastian, and he was instantly accepted as part of the ‘Kung Fu’ family, on and off screen,” Kim said ahead of Season 3.

We left Kung Fu in a state of transition. Henry decided to learn more about his father after the man died in his arms. It’s a journey that forces the end of his relationship with Nicky, even though it’s life and circumstances that keep them apart, not a loss of love and care for each other.

Zhilan’s death is clearly not the end for her, as Chapman will be in Season 3, however, the way this is possible will definitely affect the plot. Not to mention that magic was introduced into the world that brought Nicky’s shifu Pei-Ling or Xiao or maybe someone else to this realm.

So while we don’t have an official synopsis for the third season, we do know that things are sure to heat up again given what happened in the season 2 finale. We’ll keep you updated on more information about the new season.
