Review

Intimacy Season 1

The emotional state of a person after her intimate moment becomes public is expertly captured in “Intimacy.” The show shows how cybercrime can ruin a person’s life, and it expertly portrays the two protagonists’ emotions as their lives are turned upside down. This crime-centered political drama depends on some outstanding performances from its cast. It’s a slow burner that removes the layers one at a time, and the result is excellent.

“Intimacy” starts with Malen poised to represent her party as the mayoral candidate, but her campaign takes a significant hit when a sex tape leaks out of the blue. A different narrative occurs concurrently with Malen’s, and it concerns Ane, who kills herself when her naked film is made public to her coworkers.

Malen, on the other hand, resolves to confront the situation head-on while Bego, Ane’s sister, takes it upon herself to discover the truth with the assistance of Alicia, a police officer. After being asked to withdraw her candidacy, she makes it her mission to ruin the party she had pledged her allegiance to, as well as identify those responsible for the video leak and learn the truth.

Typically, Spanish television shows differ from their Scandinavian equivalents in terms of both appearance and atmosphere. However, “Intimacy” does have a slight Scandi noir vibe, which adds to the attractiveness of the crime thriller.

“Intimacy” deals with two storylines at once, yet you never become lost in them since they frequently keep crossing paths. Both cases show how social media can have a disastrous impact on the lives of women who are victims of such crimes.

Although this criminal drama moves quickly, there are instances when the action slows down to focus on family events, but other than that, it possesses all the qualities that make a series compelling enough to binge.

It’s a somber tale, yet the script keeps you interested in what happens. Both pieces are equally potent, and props to the authors for striking a delicate balance. It’s difficult to determine which is more potent.
