Blood and Water (Season 3): The Upcoming Season Of The South African Series

Blood and Water (Season 3) Update: Nosipho Dumisa-Ngoasheng, Daryne Joshua, Travis Taute, and Thati Peele have directed the South African crime teen series ‘Blood & Water’  which concluded its second season on September 24 last year. The first season premiered on May 11, 2020.

]The plot of the series revolves around a high school girl named Puleng whose sister Phume was abducted right after birth for human trafficking. One day, which also happens to be Puleng’s birthday, Phone goes to a party where she was invited by an athlete student Fikile Bhele.

But soon another student points out their similarity leading Puleng to believe that Fikile is actually Phume. Puleng becomes determined to reveal the secret only to find out that there are more secrets for her to discover apart from her sister’s mystery.

In the role of Puleng Khumalo, the series casts Ama Qamata. Other cast members of the series include Khosi Ngema, Gail Mabalane, Thabang Molaba, Dillon Windvogel, Arno Greeff, Get more Sithole, Natasha Thahane, Xolile Tshabalala, Sello Maake Ka-Ncube, Patrick Mofokeng, Shamilla Miller, Zikhona Sodlaka, etc. In recurring roles, we see Baby Cele, Faniswa Yisa, Nasty C, YoungstaCPT, Ivan Botha, etc.

Blood and Water (Season 3)- Ama Qamata:
Twenty-three years old South African actress Ama Qamata plays the role of the main character Puleng Khumalo in the series. Born in Cala of the Eastern Cape, Qamata first started appearing on-screen through advertisements. Her first tv role was Naledi as a recurring character in a tv series named ‘My Perfect Family’ in 2016.

In 2018 she was cast in the South African musical series Rhythm City in the recurring role of Thandi. Apart from her role in ‘Blood & Water’, her other most significant role is of Nobuhle Ndaba in the South African tv series ‘Gomora’ that has been running since 2020 and is currently awaiting the fourth season.

Blood and Water (Season 3)- Gail Mabalane:
South African actress cum media socialite Gail Mabalane is another cast member of the series whose face is quite familiar. Born in Kimberley, this thirty-seven years old woman plays the role of the two sisters’ mother Thandeka Khumalo. Mabalane was one of the ten finalists of season six of the South African reality talent show. From 2011 to 2013 she was cast in the lead role of Lelo Sedibe in a series named ‘The Wild’.

After that, she appeared in two minor roles of Vicky and Sarah Westbrook respectively in the South African soap opera ‘Rockville’ which ran from 2013 to 2014, and ‘Generations: The Legacy’ in 2015.

In 2016 Mabalane played the main role and also the recurrent role of Vicky in the South African soap opera ‘Rockville’. In 2018 she played the role of the main character Kelenogile Mokoena in Season 2 of the tv series ‘The Imposter’.

Getmore Sithole:
Zimbabwe-born South African actor Getmore Sithole plays the role of the two sisters’ father in ‘Blood and Water’. In 2005 Sithole played the role of Cain Gumede or Daniel Nyathi is a South African soap opera named ‘Scandal!’. In 2010 he played Uncle Rudy in ‘Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove’ and in 2012 he appeared in another series ‘Wild at Heart’.

In 2018 she was cast as the recurring character Fumane Nthebe in the series Ring of Lies’. After that since 2018 Molaba has been appearing as the main character in ‘Love: The Web Series. In 2020 she starred in another series titled ‘Damond City’ in the main role of Mak.

Arno Greeff:
The pansexual friend of Fikile named Chris Ackerman, who is a swimmer, is portrayed by African actor Arno Greeff. In 2015 Greeff played the role of Dustin Jackson in the South African movie ‘Die Pro’. Her other films include ‘Verraaiers’, ‘Vaselinetjie’, ‘Vergeet my nie’, ‘Naamloose Woord’, ‘Briefly’ and the short film ‘Vlugtig’.

From 2014 to 2015 Greeff played the recurring role of Krige Vos in the South African soap opera ‘Binnelanders’. From 2016 to 2018 he was cast in the series ‘Getroud met rugby’ as Thomas Bekker.

In 2019 he starred in the miniseries ‘Tydelik Terminaal’ as Drikus. Her two other important roles were Ben in season two of the South African telenovela ‘Legacy’ in 2021 and Regardt Snyman in dark mystery comedy ‘Recipes for Love and Murder’ in 2022.
