Upcoming American romantic comedy ‘Wedding Season’ is directed by Tom Dey. The news of the making of the film first came out in March of 2021 when Suraj Sharma and Pallavi Sharda were announced to have been cast for a movie whose screenplay is written by Shiwani Srivastava.
Later in March, two more cast members joined who are Rizwan Manji and Ari Afsar. The next month Sean Kleier joined the cast. On April 19, 2021, the principal photography for the film began. Filming wrapped up on May 31, 2021. The filming was done in Toronto of Canada.
The story of the movie revolves around Ravi and Asha who are under pressure from their parents to choose their partners and get married. During the wedding season of summer, the two of them decided to pretend to be dating in front of their parents. But eventually, amidst this pretension, they fall in love with each other.
The primary cast members whose names have been known since now are Suraj Sharma, Pallavi Sharda, Rizwan Manji, Sean Kleier, Veena Sood, Manoj Sood, Ari Afsar, etc.

Suraj Sharma:
Indian actor Suraj Sharma’s debut film has been ‘Life of Pi’, a film that itself is an Oscar winner and gave Sharma huge recognition as well as numerous accolades. He belongs to a Malayali family and is born and brought up in New Delhi of India.
In 2012 he was cast for Ang Lee’s ‘Life of Pi’ which is adapted from the 2001 same-named novel by Yann Martel.
Sharma portrayed the young Pi Patel, the protagonist of the film, who survived 227 days on the sea in a lifeboat accompanied by a Bengal tiger. In 2014 he played the role of Rinku Singh in the biographical sports drama ‘Million Dollar Arm’ based on two baseball pitchers- Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel.
His other films include ‘Umrika’, ‘Burn Your Maps’, ‘Phillauri’, ‘The Hungry’, ‘Happy Death Day 2U’, ‘Killerman’, ‘And the Illegal’. Besides ‘Wedding Season’, his one more upcoming film is ‘Gulmohar’ where he will star as Aditya.
Sharma’s tv series debut was in 2014 through the American espionage thriller series ‘Homeland’ where he played the role of Aayan Ibrahim in seven episodes. From 2018 to 2020 he acted in the comedy series to portray the character of Rakesh Singh who is a hacker and the main character Miles’ friend.
He also appeared in one episode of the anthology series ‘Little America’ in 2020. In the new American sitcom ‘How I Met Your Father’ which happens to be the spin-off of the popular series ‘How I Met Your Mother’, Sharma is cast as Jesse’s best friend cum roommate Sid.
Sharma received a British Academy Film Awards nomination under the category of Rising Star in 2012 for his performance in ‘Life of Pi’. For the same, he also won a Las Began Film Critics Society Award in 2012, an MTV Movie Awards, and a Saturn Awards in 2013 among many other nominations.
Pallavi Sharda:
Australian actress Pallavi Sharda is of Indian descent and is a classical Bharatha Natyam dancer. Her acting career began with Karan Johar’s Bollywood film ‘My Name is Khan’ where Sharda starred alongside internationally recognized Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan and one of the most popular Indian actresses Kajol.
The same year in 2010 she acted as Geeta in the Bollywood comedy-drama movie ‘Dus Tola’ co-starring with Manoj Bajpayee. Her other Bollywood movies are ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’, ‘Heroine’, ‘Besharam’, ‘Begum Jaan’, ‘And Hawaizaada’.
In the last film, she co-starred in the main role with Ayushmann Khurrana and Bengali and Hindi actor Mithun Chakraborty.
Sharda 2012 starred in ‘Save Your Legs!’, an Australian comedy movie, in 2015 Australian rom-com film ‘unINDIAN’, the next year in Australian biographical drama ‘Lion’. She also starred as Preeta Mehta in the live-action animated ‘Tom & Jerry: The Movie’ of 2021.
In 2017 Sharda was cast as Tanya Kalchuri in the Australian tv series ‘Pulse’. In 2019 she starred as Chandrika in Gurinder Chadha’s British historical series ‘Beecham House’. In 2020 she portrayed the character of Maddie in ABC’s Australian comedy series ‘Retrograde’.
The next year in the British sci-fi series ‘The One’ she played the role of Megan Chapman. Other tv series in which Sharda appeared is ‘Strike Back’, ‘Les Norton, etc.
Rizwan Manji:
This Canadian actor is mostly regarded for playing the role of Ray Butani in the Canadian tv series ‘Schitt’s Creek. Other tv series where he appeared is ‘One Life to Live, ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent, ‘NCIS’, ‘Damage Control’, ‘Sleeper Cell’, ‘Hannah Montana’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’, ‘Goliath’, ‘The Magicians, etc.
His films include ‘Transformers’, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street, ‘Equals’, ‘The Tiger Hunter’, ‘The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot’ etc.
