Yellowjackets Season 2 Productions Details and What we know so far

Published by

Yellowjackets season 2 is confirmed! The Hollywood Reporter announced in December 2021 that Showtime has ordered a second season of Yellowjackets before the first season had even ended. Given how much critical acclaim the show has received and how big of a hit it was for Showtime, it’s no surprise that it’s returning.

In early May 2022, showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson finally provided an update.

The authors have been back at work for several months, according to the two, and the team is “circling a late summer production start.”

Don’t worry if you’re scared that this implies, we won’t get to witness more of what happened in the past with the winter timeline. The showrunners said they’re planning to use “movie magic” to make the icy, snowy winter weather conceivable during the summer filming.

Expect to see more of Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, and Tawny Cypress as Shauna, Misty, Natalie, and Taissa, as well as Sophie Nélisse, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, and Jasmin Savoy Brown as their younger counterparts. Warren Kole, Sarah Desjardins, Rukiya Bernard, and Aiden Stoxx, who played their families in the present timeline, should return as well.

As co-creator Ashley Lyle told Deadline, Season 2 is set to “become darker and crazier.” It appears that this is because the show is about to jump to the 1996 timeframe, where the survivors are in their woodsy, feral cannibal phase.

(The showrunners and writers have called this season “The Winter of Their Discontent,” after the John Steinbeck novel and a passage from Shakespeare’s Richard III, according to Variety.) That, and we’re bound to find out what Lottie and her cult are up to in the present day, as indicated in the Season 1 finale’s last moments.

From why they kidnapped Natalie to Travis’ murder, there are plenty of unanswered questions about her cult’s objectives, so expect a feast of twists to devour. It should be especially fascinating to discover more about Travis’ assassination, as Nickerson previously stated that he couldn’t guarantee Lottie wanted him dead.

To catch the answers to all the questions left unanswered, catch Yellowjacket season 2. With the production still ongoing, the season might see the light of the day in November or December of this year.
