Sriya Lenka Enters the Korean Music Industry

OMG! Odisha girl Sriya Lenka became the first Indian to enter the Korean music industry! South Korean music industry is touching new heights of success every passing year and you can measure its achievement by the fact that the industry made over 6.8 trillion in revenue in the year 2019, Shocked? Well, that figure is rising every year now.

Some of the most popup K-Pop bands in South Korea are BTS, SuperM, BigBang, Girls’ Generation, Blackswan, and many others, some are boys’ groups, some are girls and some are mixed.

Currently, BTS and Blackswan are the most popular and trending the groups and their popularity has even reached India as K-Pop has a huge fan following in India.

And now in a huge announcement, an Indian artist named Sriya Lenka, from Odisha aged 18 has joined the Blackswan girl’s group and has become the first Indian to join the Korean film industry. Blackswan conducted a global audition of 6 months period where artists from all around the world participated and finally Bazalian artists named Gabi and Sriya Lenka were finally selected.

The audition was conducted to find new talents and train them under the project named “Cygnus”, Gabi and Sriya are the first pair to get selected and the project will go on in the coming years. Talking about Sriya, she is a very talented girl who had an inclination towards art and music since her childhood, she is also trained in Odissi classical dance, hip-hop, and several other dance forms.

In an interview, she told that her inclination towards K-Pop came after seeing a superhit song Growl which was performed by a boys band Exo, and right after that Sriya start learning the Korean language and culture online through language classes, movies, and T.V series.

Sriya has surely opened the doors for more Indian artists to get a chance to perform in K-Pop groups and considering the amount of talent that we have in our country, we will surely witness more Indians in Korean music industry.
