Moon Knight Episode 4 Release Date, Excitement and More

Moon Knight Episode 4 is an enjoyable surprise because it is a story about gods. The third episode of the series, “The Friendly Type,” considerably expands the series’ scope by transferring Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) and everyone in his head to Egypt, where we learn, among other things, that the Egyptian pantheon is real and that they all loathe Khonshu.

It’s a turn that’s becoming increasingly common in a Marvel Cinematic Universe that’s starting to contemplate the divine, from Eternals’ exploration of its everlasting heroes’ relationship with their Celestial creators to Shang-hidden Chi’s land of folkloric magic and Loki’s continuity-worshiping time cops.

As it progresses beyond the Avengers, the MCU is exploring the idea of heroes and villains as avatars for unfathomable cosmic forces, agents in a supernatural chess match where the players are veiled in mystery and frustratingly obtuse.

When it comes to Moon Knight’s Egyptian gods, this is especially true. They do not live on Earth, unlike the Eternals, and instead reside in the other void, a plane of existence.

They’d be completely absent if it weren’t for the gods’ habit of choosing avatars — human stand-ins who study the world for them — mostly to keep their realms undisturbed and the gods’ true natures hidden. As a result, it’s not surprising that Khonshu, the moon god (voiced by F. Murray Abraham), chose Marc Spector to carry out his mission, albeit it is odd that it’s so simple.

What’s new in Moon Knight Episode 4?

When the other avatars put Spector before a tribunal, where he is now in command, with occasional interference from Steven, we find that Khonshu is the other gods’ temperamental little brother, and none of them trust his warnings concerning Arthur Harrow’s (Ethan Hawke) attempted resurrection of Ammit.

The audience is asked to believe in an under-explained system of deity with an internal logic that defies belief, especially when the tribunal’s principal rationale.

However, there’s something else here that could be significant: the gods are irritated not only by Harrow’s testimony, but also by his choice of avatar. This is enough for the gods to punish Khonshu: if he disobeys them again, he will be imprisoned.

Up until now, Moon Knight has been tight-lipped about its reasoning for caring about its protagonist’s mental health. The gods tell Marc that he is broken, which Steven Grant believes is exactly what regular people would say about him.

It’s a heart-breaking moment, poisoned by the bizarre events that preceded it.

Following the tribunal, Marc enlists the help of Layla El-Faouly (May Calamawy), his ex-wife and last remaining ally, to devise a fresh strategy to stop Harrow by outrunning him to his target.

In quest of an ancient clue to a desert ceremony, the episode goes into full adventure tale mode, stopping by the sumptuous home of antiquities collector Anton Mogart (the late Gaspard Ulliel).
