Sandition Season 2 Updates: Are you keeping up with the new series? Sanditon has returned! The hit historical drama returned this week to much fanfare, and while fans were overjoyed to see some of their favorite characters back, they couldn’t help but lament the absence of one specific leading man.
Charlotte Heywood, 23, returns to the beach town of Sanditon and begins on a new romantic voyage in the historical drama, which is presently showing on BritBox in the UK and PBS in the US.

While most fans have accepted the reality that Sidney Parker will not be returning to the show, some have expressed their disappointment on Twitter.
One commenter said: “Why did they kill Sidney?” asked one individual, who was followed by other mournful expressions, while another added, “Zero dark, dashing, males in season two #Sanditon.” Every man in the cast has a pasty, pale complexion. I want Sidney back in my life.”
The actor who played the character, Theo James, had previously stated that he would be leaving the show and would not be returning. “As much as I enjoyed playing Sidney, I’ve always felt that his journey ended exactly how I wanted it to,” he stated in a statement in May of last year. “I’m intrigued by Charlotte and Sidney’s broken fairy-tale-like ending, and I wish the performers and team continuing success with future episodes.”
However, not all viewers were disappointed by Theo’s absence, as several turned to Twitter to praise the show’s premiere. One commenter said: “Can’t believe Sidney isn’t with us anymore,” one fan said, “but I adore where this is headed. I binged the first two episodes and I’m already demanding more,” while another praised the cast, writing, “Amazing acting!” I’m smitten with all of the newcomers! They’re doing a fantastic job in their roles!”
A third supporter added: “It’s simply incredible! The #SanditonS2 episodes have been stunning, poignant, and have left me yearning for more!”
