Jared Leto Update: In the upcoming film Morbius, he plays the Marvel character Morbius. In a new interview, the actor, who plays otherworldly bloodsucker Morbius in the upcoming Marvel film of the same name, indicated that theatres will most likely continue to function due to the appeal of comic book films to moviegoers.

“I don’t know if theaters would exist if it weren’t for Marvel pictures,” he told Variety. He stated that he is “a bit of a cinema snob,” but that he is concerned about the industry’s financial health, and so believes that superhero blockbusters should be recognized for the crucial lifeline they provide.

“It doesn’t seem like there’s enough place for everyone,” he continued, hinting that he is aware of Marvel’s stranglehold.

In another part of the conversation, the actor and musician stated that he would reprise his role as the character in any future sequels. Morbius might potentially engage with Venom, Spider-Man, and other Marvel heavyweights, according to him. He answered, “That’s half the joy.”

Due to an increase in cases of the Omicron type of COVID in the United States, Sony postponed the distribution of Morbius for another two months in January. The success of Spider-Man: No Way Home continued to influence the choice.

Morbius, Sony’s third Spider-Man film (after Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage), was scheduled to be released in July 2020.

In the film, Leto plays the anti-hero, Dr. Michael Morbius. He’s desperate to rescue himself and others after being diagnosed with a rare blood condition, but the “treatment” comes at a cost, converting him into a vampire-like creature.
