1883 Season 2 Filming Locations, Cast Details & Much More

1883 Season 2 Update: 1883 is a dramatic prequel to the critically acclaimed Paramount Television program Yellowstone, which was also developed by filmmaker Taylor Sheridan.

This ‘wagons west’ story chronicles a previous model of the Dutton family’s journey to a large region further than the reach of the law, and how they built the United States’ greatest private ranch. The filming of 1883 took place mostly in Texas, but also in Montana, where the Yellowstone series was shot.

The Dutton family is on its way westward through to the Great Plains to the last uncolonized outpost of America in the series 1883. We anticipate that, like the previous season, season 2 of the series 1883 would consist of ten episodes.

Ron Burkle, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Taylor Sheridan, and Bob Yari served as executive producers for the series. David Hutkin was in charge of the production.

The series 1883 was produced by 101 Studios, Bosque Ranch Productions, CBS Entertainment, and MTV Entertainment Studios under the banners of 101 Studios, Bosque Ranch Productions, CBS Entertainment, and MTV Entertainment Studios. The series 1883 was distributed by Viacom CBS Domestic Media Networks.

Location of 1883 Season 2

The filming of 1883 took place mostly in Texas, as well as in Montana, where even the Yellowstone seasons were shot. The Cowboy Camp – The cowboy camp was shot at Taylor Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch, which is located on the Brazos River within Parker County around Weatherford.

Old West town – The region surrounding W Exchange Avenue and North Houston Street in Fort Worth got transformed into a vast Old West town set for the series Hell’s Half Acre, according to WFAA, a local Dallas news station.

Hotel Calhoun – former Rodeo Exchange nightclub building houses the Hotel Calhoun. Across the street is the Pinkerton National Detective Agency.

1883 Season 2

The historical Hood – County Courthouse in Granbury, electronically placed in the backdrop of Fort Worth’s main street, was one of the buildings CGI’d into the image. Between 1890 and 1891, this structure was built in one of Texas’ best-preserved 19th-century courthouse squares.

The Blue Agave Saloon – On the very same street, at 302 W Exchange Avenue in Fort Worth salon, doubled as the White Elephant Saloon, the outlaws’ hideaway on the outskirts of civilization.

Fort Worth – was picked as the production’s headquarters since it was once the center of the cattle industry. Many of the original stockyards have been preserved in the city known as Cowtown.

Farina’s Winery and Cafe Grapevine, located at 202 N Houston Street in Granbury, was used to film the interiors of the Calhoun Saloon when Shea and Thomas invite James to join the trip from Texas to Montana. This Italian restaurant in the center of town has an old-timey tavern feel to it and occasionally hosts live acts. For the shoot, the streets surrounding the historical Granbury Square were blocked to traffic too.

The Texas State Railway – connecting Palestine and Rusk was used to film the vintage train scenes, according to the Palestine Herald.

The rebuilt train, which is operated by steam locomotives, may take you on a tour through the gorgeous Piney Woods of East Texas, which was established in 1881.

The historic Four Sixes Ranch – (or 6666 Ranch) in Guthrie was used to film the Doan’s Crossing camp at the border between Texas and Oklahoma Territories.

Taylor and just an investment group recently purchased this iconic ranch, which dates back to 1900 and covers over 350,000 acres. The showrunners were reportedly filming sequences in a mountainside setting in Paradise Valley near Chico Hot Springs, Montana, on the outskirts of Livingston.

The cast members had to film in difficult conditions, including light blizzards, 30 mph gusts, and sub-zero temperatures.

The five-month project, which took place in blazing Texas heat and freezing Montana cold, also included shooting in some inaccessible places.
